Monster Studios: Basic Editing

When you have recorded your video and are ready to edit, you will do so from the Overlays screen. Here you can preview your video at any time using the play button.

From this screen you have the option to add Captions, Images and Videos.

Choose timing for your added element (drag the red dots or use the plus and minus signs).

Resize elements with two fingertips, just like you would zoom in and out on your phone.

Tap on the element to make edits. To delete an element swipe left on iPhone, or long press on Android.

Captions allow you to add text to your video. There are a variety of layout and format options for you to choose from as well. To start, tap on Captions on your Overlays screen and then tap on the plus sign icon.

Enter Text
A text box will appear on top of you video and your keyboard will open. Type your text and click Done.

Choose Shape
Swipe across to view all of the shape options. Tap on each one to preview it on your video.

Format Text
Swipe down to adjust your formatting options.
Available options depends on your shape selection.


Once your caption is created, just set the timing and then click save at the top of the screen. You will return to the Overlays screen where you can add more captions as well as images and videos.

Adding an image is a great way to show your products, office environment, and brand your video with your logo. To start, tap on Images on your Overlays screen and then tap on the plus sign icon.

Choose Image Source
You can take a new picture with your phone’s camera or choose one from the gallery on your phone.

Place It
Your image will appear in the middle of your video. Tap and drag it into the right position and resize it too!

Try Fullscreen Mode
Feature a photo of your office, team, or logo on its own while the audio plays in the background.


Once your image is just the way you want it, set the timing and then click save at the top of the screen. You will return to the Overlays screen where you can add more captions, images, and videos.

Cutting away to another video or featuring a picture-in-picture experience will add an interesting element to your videos. To start, tap on Videos on your Overlays screen and then tap on the plus sign icon.

Choose Video Source
You can record a new video with your phone’s camera or choose one from the gallery on your phone.

Trim It
Your uploaded video will appear and you can trim it and then click the Apply button at the top.

Choose Options
Set the timing with the red dots and choose fullscreen if you would like. If your video overlay has audio, mute it.


Once your video is just the way you want it, set the timing and then click save at the top of the screen. You will return to the Overlays screen where you can add more captions, images, and videos.

The last step of the editing process is creating your Cover. This is the image that will be on your video before a viewer clicks the play button. Follow these steps to set it up.

Enter Text
Tap “Update Your Job Title Text Here” and when the keyboard comes up enter a title for your video.

Choose a Style
You have two options to choose from. Tap the style options to preview them with your text.

Customize
Scroll down to adjust the font, then choose a cover image from your video or from your phone.


Once your Cover is just the way you want it, tap Next at the top right to upload your final video. Read our article How to post and share.
