It’s not that anyone expected healthcare staffing to lurch to a halt if the Supreme Court decision had struck down the expansion of the healthcare system central to the Affordable Care Act.
In fact, Healthcare Leaders Media reports in a Georgetown University study that healthcare staffing is expected to add several million jobs by 2020. The hard truth is that much job growth in the industry is due to low productivity, the study says.
Given the high court’s ruling, one healthcare recruitment executive is particularly bullish on hiring, given all the change management that reform necessitates.
“The positions in high demand are physician executives, practice operations executives and case management resources,” said Andrew Chaistain, vice board chair and senior vice president at search firm Witt/Kieffer, in a statement.
The firm expects its healthcare practice to expand 29 percent this year, with a nearly 40 percent increase in HITECH IT staffing searches.
