National Employment Monthly Update
The national unemployment rate showed little movement at 4.7% in February 2017 and the number of unemployed persons decreased by 107,000 to 7.5 million according to the latest monthly employment situation report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The number of people employed increased by 235,000 in February. The three-month average rose from a revised 186,000 to 209,000 in February while the trailing twelve-month average was little changed at 195,000. Job gains occurred in construction, private educational services, manufacturing, health care, and mining.
