June 5, 2009: Vice President Biden announced that nearly $100 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will be used to help eliminate lead-based paint and other health and safety hazard from low-income homes. HUD's grants will be implemented nationwide.

In Ohio, $875,000 funding under the Healthy Homes Demonstration grant program will control and/or eliminate environmental hazards in 144 housing units.  The Healthy Homes Program will target low to very-low income families with children in high risk neighborhoods of the cities of Youngstown, Canton and Warren and adjoining zip codes in Mahoning, Trumbull and Summit Counties.

What this means for employers? Interested employers should visit HUD's recovery site or their state HUD state.
